Outcomes and Expectations
The following is a list of outcomes for each unit we will be studying. Each unit has a list of specific outcomes that will be evaluated as we progress through the course. Every outcome will be assessed a minimum of two times : One in the form of an in-class assignment and the other will be in exam form. There will be instances where an outcome will be assessed more than twice.
Evaluation: The grade for the course will be determined by your proficiency on the outcomes listed. The final grade will be the median score of the outcomes. It is an expectation that in order to complete the course ALL of the outcomes must be assessed and overall proficiency shown.
Recommends: There is a comprehensive final in all courses. However, a student may earn a recommend which gives them the option to either:
a) challenge the entire exam in order to improve their grade OR
b) choose not to write the exam.
Conditions for earning a recommend:
1) All outcomes must be assessed at a 55% level or higher.
2) All assignments both formative and evaluative must have been completed in a timely manner. (That means on time.)
3) Due diligence and a positive attitude have been shown.
If a recommend has not been achieved then the student will be required to write the portions of the exam corresponding to the outcomes that have not been achieved.
***** It should be noted that outcomes that have already been assessed prior to the final exam will not be reassessed. The only time this will occur is for students who have earned a recommend and are challenging the entire exam.
